Default Im new, helpppppp lmao :P

Hello, my name is George, I'm new but Im not a playing member, yet...

I have been playing a mmorpg for 4 years, it's been great but im running out of things to do (they do update but you know, same old place's and face's)
I was firstly considering world of warcraft, downloaded it and found out I have 30MB less RAM then whats Required to play (OMG) lol, anyways so that was a whole day wasted, and ive been on the search for an exciting MMO for a few days, thats when I stumbled across GW, it looks really exciting, looks like it has some great graphics, and its only a 1 off payment no monthly fees (my mum will be happy lol)
So does anyone have any in-game screenshots? is the game fun? is it hard? is it hard for beginngers? and would a 448mb RAM run the game? also is there lots of disks out or would the original GW game bought from the shop be good enough (im not rich lol)

for screenshots... got to the main site: www.GuildWars.com
fun... yeah it is. beating all 3 campaigns and EotN is fun.
hard... its easy if you've played MMOs before.
no idea about RAM
you can just play 1 GW. I'd advise buying prophicies and EotN. Its on the same continent, no worries about traveling.

well, GW certainly has the best story out of any MMORPG out there. It's not just wandering around killing things. It's wandering around killing things because people need you too it can get frustrating, but you can always rely on other people to help you out. Watch out for scammers; if somebody tries selling you armour, ignore them - it customises for them and them only, so you can't use it. same goes for customised weapons.
on a brighter note, the Wintersday festival is coming up, so there's loads of side-games and missions to keep everyone happy. they have a festival for Easter and Thanksgiving also, packed with tons of stuff to keep everybody happy.
Also, you're new to GW; i suggest getting Guild Wars Prophecies, because in Factions it expects you to learn everything way too quick and it gets really hard very early in the game; Nightfall does the same; and you can only play Eye of the north if you're level 20. So, prophecies is to teach people how to play the game and what to expect.
If you need my help in-game, my name's Overlord Pwnage. I'll gladly help you seeing as I've completed all three anyway and want to pass on my knowledge
Looking forward to seeing you in-game. don't forget - Prophecies is the best one to get. also has the best story

If you want to try it out before you buy, look for the Trilogy Trial DVD. I'm not sure if it's still available, but you could pick that up to see if it runs on your system. I think it was US $1.99. The trial disc lets you play the first three chapters for 10 hours, or 14 days, whichever comes first. More details here:

the first one's about ??15, kinda cheap. and yes, people will be online and you can make decent friends, I've made a few that I've stuck with throughout the entire game and we're kinda close. hope this helped

Thats cool!

ummmm, once you have completed all three of the disks, what then? do you just sit back and relax? how long does it take to complete a game? my plans are to stay with the game for years to come.. Hopefully, yet I dont really want to be buying disks all the time because eventually the cost will be high, and I just cant afford that lol, im pretty young and we are not a rich family lol enough to get by and have some entertainment like online games

prophecies? I've been playing it from the start, and it's taken ME 17 months. completed it today. but I've been working on my pathfinder title (exploring the world) and doing the actual storyline. I like to take my time, basically. Factions i did in about 2 months, but that's because when my Overlord Pwnage took a boat over, it starts you at about halfway through the storyline... Nightfall i completed a few days ago, and I've been playing that for 8 months. Again, this is because I like to take my time.

no, you don't sit back and relax at the end of the game. The end of prophecies sees a savage race called the Titans invade the world, and you have to run about all over the place and try to stop them. There's also GvG, where Guilds fight eachother, hence the game being called "guild wars." They compete in world championships and stuff, pretty cool. in Factions, there's AB - alliance battles - where there are two clans, the kurzicks and the luxons, who are constantly at war with eachother. You have to choose a side to fight for, and the faction you gain can make your guild more widely known and famous. In nightfall, you don't do much at the end of the game... but all three still manage to continue the thrill even when you've finished them

Before you go out and buy the game, do make sure that your system can run it.

Guild Wars Minimum System Specs:

* Windows XP/2000/ME/98/Vista
* Intel Pentium III 1 GHz or equivalent
* 512 MB RAM
* DVD-ROM Drive
* 3 GB Available HDD Space
* ATI Radeon 8500 or NVIDIA GeForce 3 Series Video Card with 64 MB of
VRAM
* 16-bit Sound Card
* DirectX 8

Recommended System Specs:

* Windows XP/2000/Vista
* Intel Pentium 4 2.0 GHz or equivalent
* 1 GB RAM
* DVD-ROM Drive
* 4 GB Available HDD Space
* ATI Radeon 9600 or NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 series video card or above
* 16-bit Sound Card
* Internet connection
* DirectX 9

You might get away with 448mb RAM, on the lowest setting.

with 448 mb and most probably an integrated graphics chip, GW is gonna run and look like shit.

if you are looking for a mmorpg experience, GW is not a good choice. this is because it was never intended to be a mmorpg. on many levels, GW is about as "mmorpg'ish" as diablo 2. so if you are approaching GW as a classical mmorpg, you WILL be disappointed.

however, if you are looking for fast-paced, action-driven storyline, spectacular (although with your computer, you won't see much of it) scenery, excellent combat mechanics, and the best pvp the rpg genre has to offer, then GW is for you.

Yea prophecies is VERY tedious and long. It took me soo long that i quit gw for a few months then came back after factions. You should definately go for the platinum edition, which is GW: P and the expansion GW:EN.

Its a great buy since there isn't any monthly play, but, be warned that its based around a casual player and not a hardcore gamer, there are hardcore titles, but they don't effect the game too much if you do achieve them, maybe a few do, but mostly no.

Do not use this email when you create your account. In fact I'd just edit the post and take it down if I were you.

If you want people to meet you in game you can leave your character name and they can whisper you.

As far as RAM goes, I've played with less before and still had a decent game going. It was laggy in Nightfall, but Prophecies was good unless I went to heavily trafficked places like ToA.

the mic specs for the first game are only 220mb acording to the site =/ I can buy more RAM once ive finished the first game, but would it be worth playing GW with my current RAM or would I need to buy the extra 100+ RAM?

I just saw it at Target for $19.99 a couple of days ago.

And yeah, there's always experienced players making new Prophecies characters and players with perma-pre characters, meaning having a character permanently in the pre-searing (or tutorial) part of the game.

that means you have integrated graphics. integrated graphics use system ram for graphic use, which means that 64mb of your system ram is unavailable.

it also means that your GW experience is gonna suck big time, since integrated graphics are very bad.

I have an integrated card, and my experience doesn't suck. There are some effects I can't see as a result of having an integrated card, but it doesn't amount to 'sucking.' The game still looks beautiful. I think degree of 'suck' is directly proportional to degree of expectations. Additionally, I have the same amount of RAM as the OP, and I don't suffer as much lag as I hear others experiencing in these forums.
